Each month a team of Exploring Elderhood members prepare and present a program on a relevant topic and after initial presentation there is generally a time for small group discussions and then a reconvening to share experiences. Each session is also followed by a potluck TGIF with wine and cheese, tea and crumpets and such. At all times our goal is to accentuate the positive and have fun together as we share our journeys into the second act of life! And we do!

The aging process demands that we experience major involuntary change, perhaps more change than at any other time in our adult lives. It includes change in our physical bodies, living environments, and social attachments and involves loss, suffering, and fear. Many of us need to develop new ways of coping and develop new perspectives.

We will discuss some of these issues and the challenges they bring us. This will be a chance to share our own experiences and grow from the wisdom of our friends. Dealing with the mystery of the unknown is at the core of our Unitarian Universalist faith, and we can find joy and satisfaction at this time of our lives.

Linda Brunn, MSW, LCSW, who will facilitate, spent much of her career in working with older adults as a therapist, group leader, and leader of educational programs in the community.
