USG Seeks Director of Religious Education

The Unitarian Society of Germantown (USG) is a vibrant religious community in NW Philadelphia., PA. Located in the Joseph Priestley District of the UUA, we are congregation of nearly 325 adult members. USG is a family of people with diverse spiritual orientations, from many different backgrounds.  We are vibrant, multi-cultural, and committed to growing. We seek to share a journey of spiritual growth and work together to find ways to live our faith in the world, while respecting the right to freedom of individual beliefs.

We seek an energetic and skilled Director of Religious Education (DRE) to lead our children and youth through their religious explorations toward the development of their beliefs. We offer developmentally appropriate and diverse Church School classes for all ages with special Sundays devoted to children’s chapel and social justice, so that children may learn how to live out their responsibility to others. We currently have approximately 70 children and youth registered for our programs. Our DRE joins a creative and dynamic staff.

Our salaried DRE will work 25 hours per week, 12 months per year and be primarily responsible for planning, organizing and supervising the religious education programs for the children and youth of USG. The DRE will be required to work most Sundays, attend meetings or events some evenings and will occasionally need to participate in meetings or training events outside of Philadelphia. Salary and benefits offered will comply with UUA Fair Compensation Guidelines for most DRE categories.
