Clarinet – Steve Barbone – 67 years of playing jazz with legends Coleman Hawkins, Roy Eldridge,Yank Lawson, Walter Bishop Jr., Gene Schroeder, Roswell Rudd, Sidney Bechet, Thelonious Monk, Bob Haggart, Pee Wee Erwin, Miff Mole, et al, in New York, Philadelphia and European Jazz Clubs including, Nick’s, Condon’s, The Savoy, Cinderella Club, Melody Lounge, Stuyvesant Casino, Ortlieb’s Jazz Haus, Le Cave, JazKeller, Vieux Columbier etc.
Trombone – Cindy Vidal – 22 years of playing jazz and classical. Masters degree in music, trombone major, from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. Plays in the pit Orchestra’s at the Walnut Street, and Prince Music Theaters regularly. Plays with several Swing Bands in the Philadelphia/Wilmington area. Recently returned from gigs in Las Vegas, and a tour with Barry Manilow. At 33 years old, she’s on the fast track. She also has a great singing voice…
Trumpet – Paul Grant – 49 years of playing jazz. Retired US Army bandsman who toured the Far East, Europe and the USA with the Army Jazz Band as their jazz trumpet soloist. Played jazz at The Showboat, Caesar’s, Trump Castle and other casinos in Atlantic City after retirement. Jazz trumpet soloist with several, Philadelphia area big bands. Member of the Clef Club, Trumpet lead, actor and assistant music director in the stage play, “Louis Armstrong Story” in Philadelphia & New York City.
Bass – Jack Hegyi – 42 years playing jazz. Was the traveling bassist for Steve & Eydie Gorme for 10 years. Was a regular first call bassist for the “Star” Show bands in Atlantic City Casinos, as well as at the Dunes and Golden Nugget in Las Vegas. Has worked in bands backing numerous stars from Billy Eckstein and Bob Hope to Keely Smith and Patti Lupone, not to mention some time with the ghost Glenn Miller Orchestra.
Drums – Mike Piper – 39 years playing jazz. Started as a rock and roll drummer before discovering the joy of jazz. Played with retro rock bands like the The Intruders, The Crusaders, The Cellar Rats and others like “Social Distortion”. Joined Paul Grant’s New Orleans Swing for a 15 month run at the Showboat Casino.When he was 6 years old, his father, the touring drummer with Ray Charles, bought him his first set of drums. Joined Barbone Street in 2008 and has been energizing the band ever since.
Guitar – Sonny Troy – 64 years playing jazz. Well known on the Philadelphia jazz scene. Made his first record at age 11 with Frankie Avalon who played trumpet back then. Went to Las Vegas as a teenager, playing there with Louis Prima and Sam Buteer. Joined Peggy Lee for a yearlong tour of the West Coast. Played with Harry James Band. Toured with Fabian. Came back east to become lead guitar on the Mike Douglas TV show. Bobby Rydell’s and Frankie Avalon’s first call guitarist for local gigs.
