USG is full of ways to connect. Below are the groups where members and friends gather to learn, serve, celebrate, and simply enjoy one another’s company. Our Groups

BLUU Haven Philly. A community of local Black U/UUs that generally meets every other third Saturday at 3pm. Email bluuhavenphilly@gmail.com for invitations to each gathering. BLUU Haven Philly is part of Black Lives of Unitarian Universalism (BLUU), which also offers monthly online worship, a pastoral care line for Black UUs (call or text 984-219-8710), and BLUU Boxes of historical and inspiring materials (contact bookstudy@usguu.org). Book Group. Meets the third Friday of the month at 10:30am, in person in the Sheffield Room at Cathedral Village, and on Zoom in January, February, and March. Contact Barbara Dowdall at bookgroup@usguu.org to join. Book list for 2026-27.

Ending Racism Committee. Works to advance racial justice at USG and beyond. Watch the CommUUnicator for notices of events, or contact endingracism@usguu.org for more information.

Garden GrUUp. Helps maintain USG’s garden beds. If you enjoy being outdoors and working around plants, this is the group for you. No specialized plant knowledge is required, just a willingness to help out. Contact Paula Behrens and Eva Finney at gardening@usguu.org.

GenXYZ. For adults in Generation X, Generation Y (Millennials), and Generation Z who want to build community with one another at USG. The group gathers for Snack-Potluck and Game Nights, monthly on Fridays from 7 to 9:30pm in the Edna Jones Assembly Room. Bring snacks and board games. Humanists (PUSH). The Philadelphia Unitarian Society of Humanists meets on fourth Sundays at 11:45am, in person and via Zoom if requested in advance. Contact Paul Teti at push@usguu.org.

Men’s Group. Open to anyone self-identifying as male. Meets in person in the Daskam Room, usually on fourth Sundays at 7pm. Contact Ben Manes at mensgroup@usguu.org.

Persons with Disabilities Peer Support Group. Anyone who considers themselves disabled in any way is invited to this peer support group, which meets on second Thursdays from 7 to 8pm on Zoom. It is a safe, welcoming space to share stories, challenges, grief, hope, coping, and resources, all part of the daily experience of living in an ableist world. No one to tell you what to do or how to be, just a space to relax and share without judgment. For more information, contact disabilitiesgroup@usguu.org.

Racism Book Study Group. Reads and discusses works on race, justice, and the human spirit, meeting on Zoom. Watch the CommUUnicator for announcements, or contact Treva Burger at bookstudy@usguu.org.

Small Group Ministry. These monthly groups offer a chance to get to know others more deeply and to share reflections on the spiritual theme of the month. If you are interested, contact sgm@usguu.org.
