3:00 pm - 4:30 pm
Join Dr. Kira Baker-Doyle and Rev. Kent Matthies in a critical conversation about Dr. Baker-Doyle’s latest book, Transformative Teachers: Teacher Leadership and Learning in a Connected World to learn more about how educators are organizing for social justice today.
- Who are the teachers today that work for social justice, equity, and against racism?
- How are teachers organizing with others for change in this digitally networked era?
- What are the tools and possibilities for transforming education from the ground up?
Join Dr. Kira Baker-Doyle, author of Transformative Teachers: Teacher Leadership and Learning in a Connected World, and Rev. Kent Matthies, for a critical conversation about these questions and more. Using Dr. Baker-Doyle’s book as a frame for our discussion, we’ll identify strategies teachers have used to design, organize, and connect, strategies which leverage social media and connected technologies. We’ll also discuss the problems that these new technologies raise for transformative teachers and educational organizers. As a critical conversation, we will invite members of the audience to share their questions and stories.
