End of Year Fundraiser

To our USG Family,

As we enter the holiday season, we invite you to think boldly and give generously to our end-of-year fundraiser, Food For Thought. Our goal is to raise $24,000 by the end of December. We will share our abundance with local organizations addressing food insecurity, magnifying the impact of your gift.

Lines for soup kitchens and grocery giveaways are around the block. Community fridges can barely keep up with the need. It is more obvious than ever that we, as people of faith, need to fill in the gaps to keep our neighbors fed and their cabinets stocked where our government has failed them. Half the money we receive during Food For Thought will be donated to the Share Food Program of Philadelphia, which works with community fridges, food distribution centers, and local farms to get food into the hands and bellies of hungry Philadelphians.

The remaining 50% of money raised will go to strengthening programs at USG that nourish and sustain us for the work we do as a community of people dedicated to living our values. We will use raised funds to:

Build our capacity to care for one another through trainings on radical hospitality and welcoming.
Bring in expertise from the UU world to guide a congregational update on our mission statement.
Continue to feed ourselves and our visitors a good and nourishing lunch after service.

Please consider a generous donation to feed minds, bodies, and souls at USG and beyond. On behalf of the Stewardship Committee, thank you for your support!

Carla Campbell– President, USG Board of Trustees
