Yom Kippur is a time to look deeply at ourselves and our world and to then move ahead freely into a new year and a new way of being. How to do that when so much of what we have trusted seems to be crumbling is a huge challenge. How can one day apart from the world make a difference?

Rabbi Linda Holtzman (she, they) is the organizer of Tikkun Olam Chavurah, a community that pursues social justice.
