Dear members and friends of USG,

I am pleased to announce that we have a new DSD, Rev. Kevin DeBeck!

Rev Kev, as he likes to be called, is excited to return to Religious Education, his true calling.

Kevin was born in Bangor, Maine in November of 1972. His family of origin still lives in Brewer, Maine, where he graduated from Brewer High School in 1991. He met Amy Kulesza in the fall of 1996 and he and she were married in 1998. His son Henry was born in March of 2000 and daughter Eliza in September of 2003. Kevin got his Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Maine in 2002, and the family moved to Fairfax, Virginia in 2004.

He taught 7th grade social studies at Holmes Middle School in Alexandria, VA from 2004-2008. His UU minister wife was then called to the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Elkhart, Indiana in 2008 where he led the RE committee and by 2018, took a dozen youth and two other adults to Boston to tour the UUA main offices and other UU sights.

In 2014 he started his seminary experience in Chicago at Meadville Lombard, from where he graduated in 2018. He has served three congregations as minister – in McHenry, Illinois; Westchester, New York; and Southfield, Michigan.

Rev Kev and his family currently reside in Reading, PA.

Kevin will be available starting August 14th, and will reach out to parents and committees to help shape a shared vision for Religious education at USG.

I hope you will welcome him with joy and excitement.

Many thanks to Emily Joy Goldberg and Brandi Kirksey for being an integral part of the search process. Their input was priceless.

With much excitement,

Rev. Cheryl
