CommUUnity Wednesday: Potluck, Film & Discussion

6:30 pm - 9:00 pm

Potluck at 6:30pm in the downstairs Social Hall followed by the presentation in the Sanctuary of the musical/video show Step by Step: The Ruby Bridges* Suite, featuring jazz musicians from New Orleans and singers from All Souls in DC and other UU congregations. This piece about integrating schools in New Orleans in 1960 was presented at the recent GA. If some USG folks can come, we would also like to have informal conversations about how UUCR and USG might collaborate on social and racial justice activities in the future.

*Ruby Nell Bridges Hall is an American activist known for being the first Black child (she was then six years old) to desegregate the all-white William Frantz Elementary School in Louisiana during the New Orleans school desegregation crisis in 1960. (Wikipedia)
