12:00 pm - 1:30 pm
Come to learn about Hildegard of Bingen, an amazing 12th century polymath from Germany. A woman larger than her age, Hildegard founded two abbeys in the Rhine Valley, wrote numerous books, practiced herbal medicine, composed music, and committed her visions to illustrated text. She is Germany’s first natural scientist and a recent saint of the Catholic Church. Please read either Illuminations by Mary Sharratt (fiction), or Hildegard of Bingen by Fiona Maddocks (history) for our discussion.
