Engaging the spiritual act of looking for and seeing beauty is a great way to take advantage of being alive.  Including in the midst of great hardship, committing to pay attention is an intentional choice, which leads to an ethical act.  To see beauty with open eyes puts us at risk of loving and changing ourselves and the world.
