Change is a constant part of life. Parts of our bodies regenerate every few years, and some as fast as every few days. As the saying goes, you can never step into the same river twice. But change is often scary and it can make us feel like we’ve been set adrift. How can we prepare for and deal with the unknown, balancing our human need for control with the inevitability of change?

Maggie Birge-Caracappa has been a writer and editor of the life sciences for over 20 years. She joined USG in June 2021. Her passions include fat activism, science (and science fiction), social justice, and penguins. She is currently serving as a worship associate, and lives in Mt. Airy with her wife Amy and their four terrible cats.
