Welcoming New Staff |
![]() This week we welcome Lynsey Augustus to the team as our new Content and Communications Coordinator (CCC). After a search process that surfaced many strong and qualified applicants, Lynsey was an immediately compelling candidate for her deep commitment to the community of Northwest Philadelphia and her impressive background in strategic communications. We are so thrilled to have her joining us. As Lynsey gets oriented to her role, I encourage you to say hi and introduce yourself if you see her in the office or at the CNS playground. She’ll be attending a Sunday service sometime in May where the congregation will have a chance to welcome her formally. I want to thank Hunter McCorkel, who shepherded this search process across the finish line with humanity and competence and Jody Hill and Treva Burger, who provided insightful lay leadership in selecting our candidate. And Zoë Johnston, for all her wisdom along the way. Could not have done this without them! Read below to learn more about Lynsey in her own words. With excitement and gratitude, Rev. Hannah An Intro To Lynsey My name is Lynsey Augustus (she/her), and I am thrilled to be working as the new Content and Communications Coordinator at USG. With a degree from Moravian University in Graphic Arts, my professional life has been shaped by my love for good design. Way back when, I owned a children’s boutique called Dinos & Darlings (inspired by my first two children, Nola + Gus) in Dover, DE. After closing up shop, I ventured into teaching illustration and layout design at the local community college while building a portfolio of small business communications clients. In 2017, my family jumped at the chance to move to Philadelphia when my husband, Dan, took a role at Drexel University. After some research, it was clear that Mt. Airy was the neighborhood for us, and we’ve been here ever since. Our family has grown with the addition of our caboose baby, Nellie, who is now headed to kindergarten! Community is deeply important to me, and to nurture that I am on several local boards including the PTA at CW Henry School and the executive team at Yes! And…Collaborative Arts in Germantown. Living and working locally are part of my core values so joining the USG team across the street from my home is a dream come true! In fact, you have likely seen me with a scooter riding kid walking to CNS or with a big Australian shepherd on a daily walk of our beautiful tree lined streets. I am so grateful to be joining the USG team as I feel that this environment and the congregation represent the community driven values that are so close to my heart. When I am not working, walking or embracing the joys of parenting three children in three different developmental stages, you’ll find me advocating for public schools, baking Swedish desserts, and listening to the birds. I look forward to meeting you all- you can reach me at communications@usguu.org |
